CCJ statement on the attempted attack on Finchley Reform Synagogue

Posted Thu, 04/16/2026 - 14:32 by Lazzaro

The attack on Finchley Reform Synagogue is another despicable antisemitic incident in an increasingly alarming environment for Britain’s Jewish community. We are grateful to the police and CST for their efforts in securing the area and apprehending two suspects.

Jewish colleagues, friends and neighbours should not have to worry about attending places of worship, nor should anyone of any faith.

Jewish community buildings, schools and synagogues have longstanding security systems that frankly should not be required.

We commend the clergy at FRS and Progressive Judaism for their continued dedication to bridge building work. We know firsthand that this is not lip service but a true and deep commitment demonstrated day in and day out, through positive local community relations, hosting other faith communities and their outreach to others.

We send strength, support and solidarity to FRS and to all those who are feeling shaken and concerned by this latest in an ongoing rise of antisemitic attacks in the UK.
